Dr. Ying Lee started her career in the Silicon Valley Office of McKinsey & Co as a management consultant. Then, she gained operational experience as the Director of Sales and Business Development at Ikanos and management experience as the Deputy General Manager of UTStarcom. Afterwards, Dr. Lee started her investment career at Klenier Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) in late 2005 as a partner in the Menlo Park office and helped set-up the firm's China practice. In 2009, Jack Ma invited Dr. Lee to help co-found YunFeng Capital, and grow the fund from $300M for Fund I to over $2B for Fund III. Dr. Lee is an active investor in deep tech and helps unicorn companies in fintech, digital health, and education to buildout connected cross-domain global ecosystems.
Dr. Lee graduated from MIT with a M.Eng and BS in EE&CS as well as a BS in Economics and was awarded a MD/Ph.D from the Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University. She also served the IEEE as an Associate Editor of the 802.3ah Task Force to draft the international broadband standard.
